Dental Bridge

Dental crowns and bridges are used to restore severely damaged or decayed teeth. A dental crown can repair a single tooth, while bridges are used to replace a section of missing teeth. We proudly offer CEREC technology at Dental South, allowing our patients to receive quality dental crowns and bridges in a single visit. This prevents the need for uncomfortable temporary crowns or bridges to stay in your mouth until the permanents are ready. Your restoration will be ready the same day as your procedure. You won’t need to return to our office until your next cleaning.

Dental Bridges

We custom craft our bridges to match the shape, size, and color as the rest of your smile for a natural look and proper bite. Bridges are bonded to your existing teeth or attached to implants, and are custom crafted to match your smile seamlessly. Dental bridges are ideal for patients who have a gap from a missing tooth. The procedure for dental bridges is fairly simple; your dentist will prepare your teeth for the dental crowns, use the CEREC machine to take digital images of your mouth, choose the correct color to match your teeth, and the bridge will be made within the hour. Once completed, your dentist will cement the crowns to your teeth to form the bridge. You will find that your appearance has been restored as well as the function of your bite.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are synthetic caps, often made from porcelain, that are placed on the remnants of a damaged tooth to protect the tooth and the rest of the mouth. At Dental South, we construct our dental crowns using the CEREC machine so that they are made and placed the same day as your appointment. Crowns are typically used to restore the look, feel, and function of a severely damaged or decayed tooth, and also used following a root canal. When decay in a tooth has become so advanced that portions must be removed, we will use a crown to cover the affected tooth. Dental crowns can be used to attach bridges, cover implants, and repair cracked or broken teeth. If you have discolored or stained teeth, crowns can be used to enhance your smile’s appearance.

Care for Your Dental Bridge and Dental Crown

Practice proper oral hygiene practices to keep your crowns and bridges looking and functioning great for many years. This includes brushing, flossing, and visiting us for cleanings regularly. The only way you can damage your crown or bridge is from physical damage. This can happen from a hard hit to the face or from grinding your teeth or clenching your jaw. To prevent these from happening, we recommend using a mouth guard when playing contact sports or when sleeping.
